The 96 Direct Recruitment vacancies include posts distributed among Open Competition, EWS, Backward Classes, SC and ST categories. The remaining 23 positions are for eligible candidates through Recruitment by Transfer.

Educational Qualification

For Direct Recruitment

Candidates applying through Direct Recruitment must possess a Law Degree. According to the current notification, law graduates who obtained their Law Degree within the preceding one year as of the notification date are eligible under the 2026 recruitment provisions.

Candidates must also satisfy the character and other conditions prescribed in the recruitment notification.

For Recruitment by Transfer

Candidates applying through this route must hold a Degree in Law from a recognized university established by law in India.

They must also be serving in one of the eligible categories of the High Court, District Judiciary, Prosecution Services, Law Department, Legislature Department or specified offices mentioned in the notification.

Salary / Pay Scale

Selected Civil Judges (Junior Division) are placed in the pay scale of:

₹77,840 – ₹1,36,520

The recruitment also includes a structured training and Law Clerkship period. Candidates selected initially are designated as Trainee Judicial Officers and undergo training at the Judicial Academy. After the prescribed training and Law Clerkship, candidates may be appointed to the regular post subject to satisfactory evaluation and other conditions.

Selection Process

The selection procedure for Direct Recruitment consists of three major stages:

  1. Screening Test
  2. Written Examination
  3. Viva Voce

1. Screening Test

The Screening Test will be conducted in computer-based mode.

  • Total Questions: 100
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Duration: 2 Hours
  • Minimum qualifying marks: 40%
  • Candidates are shortlisted for the Written Examination in a ratio of 1:10 of the available vacancies.

The Screening Test marks will not be added to the final merit calculation.

2. Written Examination

The Written Examination consists of three papers:

Paper III includes translation between English and Telugu and essay writing on legal subjects. The marks of Paper I, Paper II and Viva Voce are considered for the selection process as prescribed in the notification.

3. Viva Voce

The Viva Voce carries 50 marks.

Candidates qualifying in the Written Examination are called for the interview stage according to the prescribed category-wise ratio. Final selection is subject to the required marks, verification of documents and other applicable conditions.
