Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Tiruchirappalli, a premier public sector undertaking, has announced a significant recruitment drive for apprentices for the year 2026-27. This is a golden opportunity for young and aspiring individuals to gain valuable one-year apprenticeship training in a leading engineering and manufacturing enterprise. A total of 530 apprenticeship posts are available across various disciplines, including Graduate Apprentice, Technician Apprentice, and Trade Apprentice.

The recruitment is governed by the Apprentices (Amendment) Act 1973 (for Graduate & Technician) and Apprentices Act 1961 (for Trade). Eligible candidates, who are recent Diploma, ITI, or Degree holders (2022-2026 pass-outs) and meet the age criteria, are encouraged to apply online through the BHEL Trichy portal.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility varies by category, with a preference for candidates from Tamil Nadu institutions. Only candidates who completed their qualifying course (Degree/Diploma/ITI) in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026 are eligible. Qualifications via Distance Learning, Part-Time, Correspondence, or Sandwich courses are not considered.

Candidates already undergoing or having completed apprenticeship elsewhere, or with one year or more of work experience, are not eligible. Graduate Apprentice applicants holding a postgraduate qualification are also ineligible.

Educational Qualification

Age Limit (as on 1 August 2026)

• Minimum Age: 18 years
• Maximum Age: 27 years (for General category)
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates: 5 years
• OBC (NCL) candidates: 3 years
• Physically Challenged persons (minimum 40% disability): 10 years

Application Fee

No application fee is specified for any of the Graduate, Technician, or Trade Apprentice categories.

Stipend Details (per Month, Consolidated)

• Graduate Apprentice: ₹12,300
• Technician Apprentice: ₹10,900
• Trade Apprentice (Fitter, Electrician, Turner, Machinist, Instrument Mechanic, Motor Mechanic, Mechanic R&AC): ₹11,040
• Trade Apprentice (Welder, COPA): ₹10,560

Additionally, subsidized food and hostel facilities are available.

Selection Process

The selection process for BHEL Apprentice Recruitment 2026-27 is merit-based:

• Selection is based on fulfilling the conditions specified in the respective notification.
• A merit list will be drawn based on marks secured in the qualifying examination (Degree/Diploma/ITI marks, as applicable).
• In case of a tie in marks, the candidate older in age will be preferred.
• Selected candidates must meet the minimum physical fitness standards.
• No TA/DA will be paid for certificate verification or for joining the training.

How to Apply

For Graduate and Technician Apprentice

1. Register on the MHRD NATS 2.0 New Portal at nats.education.gov.in and note your 12/16-digit Student Enrolment Number.
2. Apply online on the BHEL Trichy portal at trichy.bhel.com, via the "Apprenticeship Application Portal (TRICHY)" link, using your NATS enrolment number.
3. Register on the BHEL portal, verify via OTP, and create a password.
4. Log in, fill the application form, and upload all required documents.
5. Submit the application and retain a copy for Document Verification.

For Trade Apprentice

1. Register on the RDSDE (NAPS) Portal at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and note your 10-digit RDSDE (NAPS) registration number.
2. Complete mandatory Aadhaar verification and e-KYC, ensuring name, date of birth, and gender match the SSLC certificate.
3. Apply online on the BHEL Trichy portal at trichy.bhel.com using your RDSDE (NAPS) registration number.
4. Register on the BHEL portal, verify via OTP, create a password, log in, and fill the application form.
5. Upload all required documents and submit; retain a copy for Document Verification.
