CSL Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Notification Out

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), a premier Miniratna Schedule 'A' Company under the Government of India, has released an online application notification for the engagement of Technician (Vocational)/Trade Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961. A total of 210 apprenticeship seats are available for a One Year apprenticeship training program. This is a golden opportunity for eligible ITI/Vocational certificate holders to gain valuable experience at a leading shipyard.

A total of 210 apprenticeship seats have been notified by Cochin Shipyard Limited, split across ITI Trade Apprentices (205 seats in 16 trades) and Technician (Vocational) Apprentices (5 seats in 5 disciplines).

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following criteria as on 08.10.2026:

• Education:
  • ITI Trade Apprentices: Pass in Xth standard; and Pass in ITI (National Trade Certificate – NTC) in any one of the notified trades.
  • Technician (Vocational) Apprentices: Pass in Vocational Higher Secondary Education (VHSE) in the concerned discipline.
• Age: Minimum 18 years as on 08.10.2026. The notification does not specify an upper age limit.
• Physical Standards: As prescribed in the Apprentices Act 1961, Apprenticeship Rules 1992, and amendments thereof, if any.
• Domicile: The applicant shall be a domicile of Kerala.
• Reservation: Applicable as per Government of India Rules.

Candidates who have already undergone apprenticeship training in any other organisation, for any duration, under the Apprentices Act, 1961, are not eligible to apply.

Age Limit

The minimum age required for both ITI Trade Apprentices and Technician (Vocational) Apprentices is 18 years, as on 08.10.2026. The notification does not specify an upper age limit.

Stipend

Selected apprentices, under both the ITI Trade Apprentice and Technician (Vocational) Apprentice categories, will receive a stipend of Rs. 11,000/- per month during the one-year apprenticeship training period. No travel expenses, boarding, or lodging will be provided by CSL.

Application Fee

The application fee for CSL Technician and ITI Apprentice Recruitment 2026 is Nil. There is no fee payable by applicants of any category for submitting the online application.

Selection Process

Selection to CSL Technician (Vocational)/Trade Apprentice posts is based on shortlisting by merit, followed by certificate verification and medical fitness clearance; there is no written examination specified in the notification.

1. Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted based on the percentage of marks obtained in the prescribed qualification applicable to the respective trade/discipline. In case of a tie in marks, relative merit will be decided based on seniority in age.
2. Intimation to Shortlisted Candidates: Shortlisted candidates will be intimated through their registered email ID and will have to appear for certificate verification.
3. Certificate Verification: Candidates must produce a signed printout of the online application form (with unique registration number), original certificates towards proof of age, qualification, caste, and disability (if any), along with self-attested copies of these certificates.
4. Provisional Selection: On successful completion of certificate verification, applicants will be provisionally considered for selection against the notified seats in order of merit/reservation, subject to medical fitness.
5. Apprenticeship Contract: Selected candidates must execute the apprenticeship contract agreement through the https://apprenticeshipindia.gov.in portal.

How to Apply

CSL Technician and ITI Apprentice Apply Online process is conducted entirely through the CSL SAP E-recruitment portal; no offline or postal applications are accepted. Follow these steps:

1. Go through the User Manual published on www.cochinshipyard.in (Career page – CSL Kochi) before filling the online application.
2. Complete Phase 1: One-time Registration on the SAP E-recruitment portal of CSL.
3. Complete Phase 2: Submission of the application against the applicable Trade/Vocation. Applicants should not submit more than one application; the application, once submitted, is final.
4. Upload all certificates towards proof of age, educational qualification, caste, disability (if applicable), and a recent passport-size colour photograph in the SAP online application portal.
5. Verify that all entries, including marks, are filled in correctly. Any discrepancy will lead to summary rejection.
6. Submit the application and retain a soft copy/printout containing the unique registration number generated only upon successful submission, for future correspondence with CSL.

The online application portal will be functional from September 16, 2026 to October 08, 2026. Candidates are advised to submit their applications well in advance, as troubleshooting assistance/technical support may not be available after 1600 hrs on the last date.
