Note: Only GATE-2027 marks are valid for this recruitment. GATE scores from 2026 or earlier years will not be considered.

Vacancy Details

The detailed advertisement with post-wise vacancy numbers will be published in February 2027. However, the posts announced are:

• Executive Trainee (Chemical)
• Executive Trainee (Electrical)
• Executive Trainee (Instrumentation)
• Executive Trainee (Mechanical)

A candidate can apply for only one post/discipline.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 65% marks in the relevant discipline. Specific disciplines are:

• Executive Trainee (Chemical): Chemical / Petrochemical / Chemical Technology / Petrochemical Technology / Chemical Technology & Polymer Science / Chemical Technology & Plastic Technology
• Executive Trainee (Instrumentation): Instrumentation / Instrumentation & Control / Electronics & Instrumentation / Electrical & Instrumentation / Electronics / Electrical & Electronics
• Executive Trainee (Electrical): Electrical / Electrical, Electronics & Power / Electrical & Electronics / Electrical & Power
• Executive Trainee (Mechanical): Mechanical / Production / Production & Industrial / Manufacturing / Mechanical & Automobile

Minimum Qualifying Percentage:

• General, EWS and OBC (NCL) candidates: Minimum 65% marks.
• SC/ST/PwBD candidates: Minimum 60% marks (applicable only against reserved posts).

Passing-Year Conditions:

• Candidates who completed their Bachelor's degree in Engineering in 2026, OR those currently in the final year (2026–27) of their Engineering degree course are eligible.
• Candidates who completed their Engineering degree in 2025 or earlier are NOT eligible.
• Final-year candidates must submit their final degree certificate (or provisional) by 31 August 2027.

Age Limit:

• Upper Age Limit: 26 years as on 18 March 2027.

Age Relaxation:

• SC/ST: 5 years
• OBC (NCL): 3 years
• PwBD: 10 years
• Ex-servicemen: As per Government rules.

Selection Process

The selection process will primarily be based on GATE-2027 marks. The steps are:

1. Candidates must register for and appear in GATE-2027 in the relevant paper.
2. After downloading the GATE-2027 admit card, candidates must separately apply online on the GAIL website, providing their GATE-2027 Registration Number.
3. Based on GATE-2027 marks, candidates will be shortlisted for further selection stages.

1. Register for and appear in GATE-2027 as per the official GATE instructions.
2. Download your GATE-2027 admit card with your registration number.
3. Visit the "Careers" section of the GAIL website (https://gailonline.com) from 17 February 2027, 11:00 AM to 18 March 2027, 6:00 PM.
4. Apply online, ensuring you accurately provide your GATE-2027 Registration Number.
5. Apply for only one post/discipline.

Applications without a valid GATE-2027 registration number will be rejected. No other mode of application will be accepted.
