Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

The candidate must be a citizen of India, or possess nationality as per Rule-7 of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.

Educational Qualification

  • Passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination from a Secondary/Higher Secondary Education Board, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government; and
  • A minimum one-year Sanitary Inspector's Diploma Course from a Government-recognized institution; or
  • A minimum one-year Certificate of Health Sanitary Inspectors from an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) or any other Government-recognized institute; and
  • Basic knowledge of Computer Application as prescribed under the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967; and
  • Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi, or both.

Candidates without a basic computer knowledge certificate at the time of application may still apply, but must submit proof of having passed a basic computer knowledge test before appointment, failing which their selection will be cancelled.

Age Limit

As on 15/09/2025, the candidate's age must not be less than 18 years and not more than 33 years.

Salary / Pay Scale

  • Selected candidates will be appointed on a fixed monthly pay of ₹26,000 for the first five years.
  • After five years, subject to satisfactory service, candidates become eligible for regular appointment in the 7th Pay Commission scale of ₹25,000 to ₹81,100 (Level-4).
  • For candidates appointed at Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation: after three years of satisfactory service, they become eligible for the 7th Pay Commission Level-4 scale (₹25,500–₹81,100).

Selection Process

Selection is through a single-stage competitive exam conducted in CBRT/OMR (Computer Based Response Test / Optical Mark Recognition) mode, comprising objective MCQ-type questions, divided into two parts:

  • Combined duration for Part A and Part B: 3 hours (180 minutes).
  • Negative marking: 1/4 mark deducted per wrong answer.
  • Qualifying standard: minimum 40% in Part A and minimum 40% in Part B, independently, for all categories.
  • Candidates scoring the required qualifying marks will be shortlisted for document verification, called at approximately twice the number of category-wise vacancies.
  • Final selection/waiting list will be prepared based on merit within the category-wise vacancies.
