GSSSB Municipal Sanitary Inspector Recruitment 2026: 173 Posts Overview

Gujarat Gauna Seva Pasandagi Mandal (GSSSB), Gandhinagar, has reopened the online application window for Municipal Sanitary Inspector and Sanitary Sub Inspector, Class-3 posts under Advertisement No. 349/202526. Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

The candidate must be a citizen of India, or possess nationality as per Rule-7 of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.

Educational Qualification

• Passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination from a Secondary/Higher Secondary Education Board, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government; and
• A minimum one-year Sanitary Inspector's Diploma Course from a Government-recognized institution; or
• A minimum one-year Certificate of Health Sanitary Inspectors from an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) or any other Government-recognized institute; and
• Basic knowledge of Computer Application as prescribed under the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967; and
• Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi, or both.

Candidates without a basic computer knowledge certificate at the time of application may still apply, but must submit proof of having passed a basic computer knowledge test before appointment, failing which their selection will be cancelled.

Age Limit

As on 15/09/2025, the candidate's age must not be less than 18 years and not more than 33 years.

Age Relaxation

Salary / Pay Scale

• Selected candidates will be appointed on a fixed monthly pay of ₹26,000 for the first five years.
• After five years, subject to satisfactory service, candidates become eligible for regular appointment in the 7th Pay Commission scale of ₹25,000 to ₹81,100 (Level-4).
• For candidates appointed at Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation: after three years of satisfactory service, they become eligible for the 7th Pay Commission Level-4 scale (₹25,500–₹81,100).

Application Fee

• Fee must be paid online only (Debit Card, Internet Banking, UPI, or Wallets); a transaction fee applies in addition.
• Fee is refundable to candidates who appear for the examination; not refundable for those who do not appear.

Selection Process

Selection is through a single-stage competitive exam conducted in CBRT/OMR (Computer Based Response Test / Optical Mark Recognition) mode, comprising objective MCQ-type questions, divided into two parts:

Exam Pattern

• Combined duration for Part A and Part B: 3 hours (180 minutes).
• Negative marking: 1/4 mark deducted per wrong answer.
• Qualifying standard: minimum 40% in Part A and minimum 40% in Part B, independently, for all categories.
• Candidates scoring the required qualifying marks will be shortlisted for document verification, called at approximately twice the number of category-wise vacancies.
• Final selection/waiting list will be prepared based on merit within the category-wise vacancies.

• Educational qualification certificates (HSC + Sanitary Inspector Diploma / ITI Health Sanitary Inspector Certificate)
• Birth certificate / School Leaving Certificate for age proof
• Caste/category certificate (SC/ST/SEBC/EWS), issued by a competent authority in the prescribed format, where applicable
• Non-creamy layer certificate (for SEBC candidates) or Income and Asset Certificate (for EWS candidates)
• Disability certificate (for PwD candidates, where applicable)
• Ex-servicemen identity card and discharge book (where applicable)
• Basic computer knowledge certificate (or proof of passing before appointment)
• Recent passport-size photograph and signature, in the prescribed dimensions

Follow these steps to apply online:

1. Visit https://ojas.gujarat.gov.in and click "Online Application" → "Apply", then select GSSSB.
2. Select Advertisement No. 349/202526 (Municipal Sanitary Inspector, Class-3) and click Apply.
3. Click "Apply Now", then "Skip" to open the application format; fill in Personal Details.
4. Fill in Educational Details.
5. Accept the declaration and click Save to generate your Application Number.
6. Upload your photograph and signature in JPG format, each under 15 KB.
7. Click "Confirm Application" - once confirmed, no further edits are possible.
8. Note the Confirmation Number generated.
9. Download and print a copy of the application form for your records.
10. Pay the applicable examination fee online by 29/07/2026 (11:59 PM) and save the payment receipt.
