Vacancy Details: IGCAR Trade Apprentice 2026

IGCAR is offering 200 apprentice seats across 18 trades. The trade-wise distribution is as follows:

Out of the 200 seats, 8 vacancies are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) as per Government of India norms. For PwBD candidates, disability must be 40% or more.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

• Candidates must hold an ITI pass certificate in the relevant trade corresponding to the trade applied for.
• Applicants who have already undergone, or are currently undergoing, apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961 are not eligible.
• Candidates with grading under the CGPA system must submit a University/Institute-issued certificate converting CGPA into an appropriate percentage.

Age Limit (as on 19/08/2026)

Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC (NCL) candidates is applicable as per Central Government rules.

Stipend for IGCAR Trade Apprentices

Stipend rates are as per the Gazette Notification (G.S.R. 610(E) dated 03-09-2025) on the Apprenticeship (Amendment) Rules, 2025.

Selection Process

The selection process for IGCAR Trade Apprentices will involve the following stages:

1. Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted based on the percentage of marks obtained in their ITI course. In case of a tie, higher percentage in 10th standard (or 8th standard for specific trades) and then older age will be considered.
2. Document Verification (DV): All shortlisted candidates must appear for mandatory document verification. Failure to do so will lead to cancellation of candidature.
3. Medical Examination: Engagement as an Apprentice is subject to qualifying a standard medical examination prescribed by the Competent Authority.

Selected candidates must execute a Contract of Apprenticeship before training. A Trade Test will be conducted upon completion of training, and a National Apprenticeship Certificate will be awarded upon passing.

Candidates must bring the following documents (original plus one set of self-attested photocopies) at the time of Document Verification:

• Signed printout of the online application form with a recent passport-size photograph.
• Police Verification Certificate from the local police station.
• Date of Birth Certificate/SSC certificate.
• 8th/10th standard mark sheets prior to the ITI course.
• ITI trade certificates (NCVT/SCVT) with year-wise mark sheets and consolidated mark sheet.
• Caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL), valid as on 19-08-2026, if applicable.
• Valid Income and Assets Certificate as on 19-08-2026, for EWS category.
• Disability Certificate for PwBD (above 40%), if applicable.
• Savings Bank Account number and passbook.
• Aadhaar Card and PAN Card of the applicant.
• Confirmation copy of Apprentice Registration through the apprenticeshipindia.gov.in portal.
• CGPA-to-percentage conversion certificate, if applicable.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending document verification or the medical examination.

1. Register on Apprenticeship India Portal: First, register on the Apprenticeship India portal at https://www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in for enrollment as an Apprentice and complete mandatory Aadhaar (e-KYC) verification. Note down your unique registration number (e.g., AXXXXXXXXXX).
2. Prepare Documents: Keep scanned copies of required documents (Caste/Disability/EWS, 8th/10th mark sheet, ITI certificate & mark sheets as a single PDF) ready.
