Educational Qualification

About the Project

TRIBAL (Tribal Repository of Intangible and Built Indigenous Legacies) is an applied research and documentation project undertaken at IIT Jammu with the support of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. The project aims to document the intangible and built heritage of tribal communities in Jammu & Kashmir, including the Gujjar, Bakarwal, and other indigenous communities.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Design and develop the database architecture for the project, structuring and organizing documented research, field, and multimedia data.
  • Build, populate, and maintain the digital archive/repository of intangible and built heritage material collected under the project.
  • Develop, host, and maintain the project's web portal/interface, ensuring functionality, accessibility, and regular updates.
  • Manage data entry, tagging, indexing, and cataloguing of archival material to ensure ease of retrieval and long-term preservation.
  • Ensure data security, regular backups, and integrity of the database and portal.
  • Coordinate with the Team Manager and research team to upload field documentation, reports, and multimedia content to the portal.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to the database and portal, and liaise with any external vendors/service providers as required.
  • Undertake any other project-related technical or administrative tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigator.
