Educational Qualification (Post-wise)
Qualifications vary by post code, generally requiring B.E./B.Tech, M.E./M.Tech, M.Sc or Ph.D in relevant disciplines. Key requirements include:
- JRF: M.E./M.Tech or M.Sc/B.E./B.Tech in specialized fields like Semiconductor Technology, Electronics & Communication, Engineering Physics, Atmospheric Sciences, Geophysics, Computer Science, Geo-informatics.
- RA: Ph.D in Oceanic Sciences, Mathematics, Earth Sciences, or 3 years' research/teaching/design/development experience after M.E./M.Tech with a publication in an SCI-listed journal.
- PS-I: Ph.D in Geophysics, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Remote Sensing & GIS, or M.E./M.Tech in Geo-informatics, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology, RF & Microwave, Applied Physics.
Minimum Marks: A minimum aggregate of 60% marks (or CGPA/CPI of 6.5 on a 10-point scale) for M.E./M.Tech, and 65% marks (or CGPA/CPI of 6.84 on a 10-point scale) for M.Sc/B.E./B.Tech degrees is required. Rounding-off of marks or conversion of CGPA to percentage is not allowed.
Additional Qualifying Test for JRF Posts (Post Code 01 to 07): Applicants must have qualified one of the following, with a valid result/score card as on 30.09.2026:
- National Eligibility Test (NET) – CSIR-UGC NET, including Lectureship (Assistant Professorship)
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- National-level examinations conducted by Central Government departments/agencies/institutions (e.g., DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER).
Candidates pursuing professional courses through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) or whose final year/semester result was not declared by 30.09.2026 are not eligible.
Age Limit (as on 30.09.2026)
- JRF (Post Code 01 to 07): Maximum age limit is 28 years.
- RA/PS-I (Post Code 08 to 16): Maximum age limit is 35 years.
Age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC-NCL candidates is applicable. Other relaxations apply as per Government of India rules for Central Government employees, PwBD, ex-servicemen, etc.
Salary / Emoluments
The monthly emoluments (fellowship/associateship) are as follows:

The selection process for SAC Recruitment 2026 is entirely interview-based.
