The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has released Notification No. 05-PSC(DR-P) OF 2026, dated 31-07-2026, inviting online applications for 205 posts of Assistant Professor, College Director of Physical Education & Sports, and Librarian in Government Degree Colleges under the Higher Education Department, Jammu & Kashmir. Only domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir are eligible to apply.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility varies by post. The core requirements include a Master's degree and qualifying in NET/SLET/SET or holding an equivalent PhD. Applicants must be domiciles of J&K.

Assistant Professor (General Disciplines)

• Master's Degree with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/Differently-abled candidates and PhD holders who obtained their Master's before 19 September 1991), OR an equivalent point-scale grade in a concerned/relevant/allied subject.
• Must have cleared NET (UGC/CSIR) or an equivalent SLET/SET test.

• Must have cleared NET/SLET/SET, or hold a qualifying PhD under UGC 2009/2016 regulations (subject to conditions), or hold a PhD from a foreign university ranked in the world's top 500.

Librarian Qualification

• Master's Degree in Library Science, Information Science, or Documentation Science (or an equivalent professional degree) with at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories), OR an equivalent point-scale grade.
• A consistently good academic record and knowledge of computerisation of libraries.
• Must have cleared NET (UGC/CSIR) or an equivalent SLET/SET, or hold a qualifying PhD under applicable UGC regulations (subject to conditions).

College Director of Physical Education & Sports Qualification

• Master's Degree in Physical Education and Sports, Physical Education, or Sports Science with 55% marks (50% for reserved categories), OR an equivalent point-scale grade, AND a record of representing the university/college at inter-university/inter-collegiate competitions at state and/or national level.
• Must have cleared NET/SLET/SET, or hold a qualifying PhD (subject to conditions).
• OR - an Asian Games or Commonwealth Games medal winner with at least a postgraduate degree.
• Candidates must also pass a physical fitness test as per UGC Regulations 2018.

Age Limit (as on 1st January 2026)

• Open Merit (OM): 40 years (Born not after 01.01.2008, not before 01.01.1986)

Salary Structure

Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Band Level-10 of the pay matrix, with a pay range of Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 1,82,400.

Selection Process

The selection process will be conducted as per Rule 45 of the J&K Public Service Commission (Business & Procedure) Rules, 2021, as amended. It includes:

• A written examination consisting of a single paper of 3 hours' duration with 120 multiple-choice questions.
• The syllabus for the written examination is available on the JKPSC official website. The syllabus for College Director of Physical Education & Sports will be notified separately.
• The examination will be held at Srinagar and Jammu centres.
