Applications are invited for enrolment into 558 posts of Part-Time Guardsman and Equivalent Ranks (Volunteers) in the Meghalaya Border Wing Home Guards Battalion.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

• Home Guards Basic Training Certificate is mandatory.

Selection Process

1. Personal Interview

Eligible Home Guards Volunteers will undergo a Personal Interview. The interview will be conducted in Tura and Shillong centres. Successful candidates will be deployed in the remote border areas of Khasi, Jaintia & Garo Hills bordering Bangladesh. No separate intimation regarding interviews will be sent; candidates are responsible for checking the selected list and appearing for the interview on notified dates.

Salary / Pay Scale

Selected volunteers will be deployed under the ‘Wages’, Highly Skilled Category. They will receive a monthly honorarium at the rate prescribed by the Department of Labour, Employment & Skill Development, Government of Meghalaya, which also includes Risk Allowance as prescribed by the State Government. The exact pay scale will be as per the prevailing rates determined by the relevant government department.

1. Obtain the Prescribed Standard Form for application.
2. Ensure you are an Indian citizen and domiciled in the State of Meghalaya.
3. Fill out the application form completely and accurately.
4. Attach the following attested copies of certificates/documents: 2 recent passport-size photographs (one pasted on the form).
5. Educational Qualification Certificate.
6. Birth Certificate or Age Certificate as per school records.
7. EPIC card of Meghalaya.
8. Home Guards Basic Training Certificate.
9. Medical Fitness Certificate from any Authorized Government Medical Practitioner/Institution.
10. Submit the completed application form along with the self-attested copies of certificates and testimonials to their respective District Home Guards Offices/Officers Commanding District Training Centre/Civil Defence Offices.
11. Ensure the application reaches the concerned office on or before the last date, 28th September 2026.

Important Points

• The deployment period is for 1 year, extendable based on performance.
• Deployment is purely temporary and voluntary; no claim for regularization or permanent retention can be made.
• Volunteers can be dismissed/terminated at any time without assigning reasons.
• The Department is not responsible for any damage/injury during the enrolment process.
• Volunteers should be prepared to stay for 2-3 days under their own arrangements; no TA/DA will be admissible.
• Carry valid ID cards and original documents for the interview.
• Canvassing or offering bribes will lead to disqualification and/or prosecution.
• The Department reserves the right to cancel the enrolment process wholly or partially.
• State Reservation Policy/Roaster will not be applicable as the deployment is voluntary.
