NTPC Assistant Chemist Trainee Recruitment 2026: Overview

NTPC Limited, India's largest integrated power utility (A Govt. of India Enterprise), has released the Assistant Chemist Trainee (ACT) Recruitment Notification 2026 (Advertisement No. 09/26). This recruitment drive aims to fill 40 vacancies for the post of Assistant Chemist Trainee.

Candidates with a Regular/Full-time M.Sc. in Chemistry from a recognized Indian University/Institute are eligible to apply online. The selected candidates will join as Assistant Chemist Trainees at various Stations/Projects/JVs/Subsidiaries of NTPC across India.

Vacancy Details

A total of 40 projected vacancies have been announced for the post of Assistant Chemist Trainee (ACT). The vacancies are distributed across various categories:

*The total number of projected vacancies may increase or decrease as per organizational requirement. Reservation for PwBD candidates will be as per Government guidelines. Identified Disabilities for Assistant Chemist Trainee include HH, OA, OL, BL, OAL, LC, Dw, AAV, SLD, MI, MD.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

• Candidates must hold a Regular/Full-time M.Sc. in Chemistry from a recognized Indian University/Institute recognized by appropriate statutory authority with at least 60% marks in aggregate.
• SC, ST, and PwBD candidates with passing marks are also eligible.
• Final year/semester students who expect their result by 31.07.2026 may also apply, provided they submit the prescribed final/provisional degree dated 31.07.2026 or before, if selected.

Age Limit (as on 10 July 2026)

• Maximum Age for General (UR / EWS): 27 years
• Age Relaxation:SC / ST: 5 years
• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
• PwBD: 10 years
• Ex-Servicemen: As per Government guidelines

Application Fee

The application fee is non-refundable and can be paid online (Net Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card) or offline (through State Bank of India).

For offline payment, candidates must approach an SBI branch with a printout of the "pay-in-slip" available on the application portal and deposit the fee into account No. 30987919993.

Selection Process & Exam Pattern

Eligible candidates will undergo an All India based Online Selection Test. Based on category-wise merit, candidates will be shortlisted for document verification/further selection process. Candidates must qualify separately in both parts of the Online Selection Test.

Online Selection Test Pattern

Shortlisting for document verification will be based on merit in the Online Selection Test.

Placement & Service Bond

Selected candidates will undergo one-year training at various places. The final posting will be at any of the Stations/Projects/JVs/Subsidiaries of NTPC across India, and all posts are transferable.

• Service Bond for General, EWS, and OBC categories: Rs. 2,50,000/-
• Service Bond for SC, ST, and PwBD categories: Rs. 1,25,000/-

Candidates are required to serve the company for at least 3 years after successful completion of training.

After successful application, candidates must download and keep a printout of the generated application slip for future correspondence.

Documents to be Uploaded at the Time of Online Application:

• Class X Passing Certificate or Marksheet (for Name/DOB proof)
• Copy of PAN Card
• M.Sc. (Chemistry) Degree – Final/Provisional Certificate
• Final year or Consolidated Marksheet/Transcript clearly indicating aggregate percentage of marks
• Marks conversion formula from the University/Institute (if applicable)
• Valid Caste/Category Certificate in the Government prescribed format (OBC-NCL certificate valid for FY 2026-27, EWS Income & Asset Certificate for FY 2026-27 based on FY 2025-26 income).
