Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna company under the Ministry of Power, has announced its rolling advertisement for one-year apprenticeship training. Currently, 10 regions have published detailed advertisements, collectively offering 270 training slots for ITI Electrician, Diploma, and Engineering pass-outs. POWERGRID maintains regional advertisements, and candidates must apply to the region covering their state. The combined total from the 10 regions that have published so far is 270 slots. Reservation for SC, ST, OBC (NCL) and PwBD candidates applies as per the Apprentices Act, 1961.

Eligibility Criteria for PGCIL Apprentice Recruitment 2026

Educational Qualification (full-time, Government-recognised):

The qualification must be full-time and regular. Part-time, correspondence, distance-education, or online mode qualifications are not eligible. Your result must have been declared between 11 September 2024 and 10 September 2026. Candidates must also be Indian citizens.

Age Limit 2026:

• Minimum Age: 18 years completed at the time of application.
• Maximum Age: No upper age limit is prescribed.
• Age Relaxation: Not applicable.

Salary and Stipend for PGCIL ITI, Diploma and Graduate Apprentice 2026

The monthly stipend varies by trade:

• ITI Electrician: Rs 13,500 per month
• Diploma Apprentice (Electrical or Civil): Rs 15,000 per month (includes DBT of Rs 5,450)
• Graduate Apprentice (Electrical or Civil): Rs 17,500 per month (includes DBT of Rs 6,150)

An additional Rs 2,500 per month as HRA will be provided if company accommodation is not available. Shared bachelor accommodation may be given subject to availability. Apprentices are entitled to 12 days casual leave and 15 days medical leave on a pro-rata basis within one year of training. An Aadhaar-seeded, DBT-enabled bank account is compulsory for stipend payment.

Selection Process for PGCIL Apprentice 2026

The selection process is merit-based and does not involve a written examination or interview:

1. Screening: Applications are screened based on merit (marks in prescribed qualification) and eligibility.
2. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates (in a 1:5 ratio to notified slots) are called for document verification via registered email. No TA/DA is paid for attending DV.
3. Merit List: Prepared from suitable candidates who report for verification.
4. Engagement: Upon accepting the tri-partite apprenticeship contract on the NATS or NAPS portal, submitting a medical certificate, and police verification.

Application Fees

There is no application fee for any candidate. POWERGRID explicitly states that no money should be asked at any stage of this engagement.

Who Is Not Eligible for PGCIL Apprentice Recruitment 2026?

Candidates will be rejected if they:

• Are awaiting their final examination result.
• Have not completed 18 years of age.
• Have undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training in any organisation.
• Have job experience of more than 1 year.
• Hold qualifications obtained through part-time, correspondence, distance-education, or online modes.
• Apply for more than one region, state, or trade (all applications will be rejected).
• Submit incomplete applications or applications without proper documents.
• Provide false information.
• Claim for employment with POWERGRID after or during the apprenticeship.
• Are enrolled in or undergoing any regular course or job during the apprenticeship.

How to Apply Online for PGCIL Apprentice Recruitment 2026

Applications are accepted only through the official POWERGRID website. Follow these steps:

1. Register as a candidate on the NAPS portal (for ITI Electrician) or the NATS portal (for Diploma and Degree in Engineering) and complete your profile with all necessary documents.
2. Note down your NAPS or NATS registration/enrolment number.
3. Visit the official POWERGRID website, navigate to 'Careers', then 'Engagement of Apprentices', and click on 'Apply Online'.
4. Select one region, one state, and one trade. Enter your Aadhaar-seeded, DBT-enabled bank account details.
5. Upload your certificates, mark sheets, age proof, caste/disability certificate (if applicable), cancelled cheque, photograph, and signature. Then submit your application.
