The National Institute of Research in Communicable Diseases (ICMR-NIHR), Jodhpur, has announced a recruitment drive for the position of Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical) under the project titled “Optimizing oral cancer screening through capacity building of Healthcare workers of Health and Wellness Centres of districts of Rajasthan- An Implementation Research”. This is a temporary position initially for up to one year, extendable up to project completion.

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications:

• Post Graduate Degree in Public Health / Epidemiology / Population Sciences with three years of post-qualification experience in the relevant subject.
• OR
• Post Graduate Degree in Public Health / Epidemiology / Population Sciences with a PhD in the relevant subject.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Prior experience in oral cancer / head & neck cancer / NCD research, preferably in screening or early detection programs (evidenced from publications).
• Experience working with Health & Wellness Centres (Ayushman Arogya Mandirs) or Community Health Officers (CHOs) (evidenced from publications).
• Experience in training, capacity building, or IEC/BCC activities.
• Experience in community-based or implementation research, including field coordination and stakeholder engagement.
• Hands-on experience in data collection, management, and analysis using SPSS / STATA / R.
• Familiarity with public-health surveillance systems, program monitoring, and reporting.
• Ability to prepare technical reports, policy briefs, and scientific manuscripts.

Age Limit:

Not exceeding 40 years on the date of the walk-in interview / written test. Age relaxation will be applicable as per government norms.

Remuneration

The selected candidate will receive a consolidated remuneration of Rs. 67,000/- + HRA per month.

Tenure

The position is purely temporary, initially for up to one year, extendable up to the project completion. However, the position can be terminated at any point in time with one month's notice from either side.

Place of Work

ICMR-NIHR, Jodhpur or anywhere in India as per project requirements.

Selection Process

Candidates will be selected based on their performance in a Walk-in-Interview / Written Test. If more than 30 candidates apply, a written test will be conducted. The qualifying marks for the written test are 35% for SC/ST and 40% for UR/OBC/EWS candidates. Eligible candidates from the written test will then appear for an interview. The final selection will be based on the marks obtained in the written test and interview (or interview only if no written test is conducted).

General Terms and Conditions

• The project positions are purely temporary.
• Candidates who have served in ICMR Projects/Institutes for more than three years are not eligible.
• The advertised positions are tentative and recruitment depends on project requirements and competent authority approval.
• Selected candidates must work for at least one month; otherwise, emoluments drawn will be forfeited.
• Engagement can be terminated with one month's notice from either side.
• Candidates already employed must submit a “No Objection Certificate” from their present employer/PI at the time of the interview/test.
• Selected candidates will have no claim for regular appointment or continuation in any other project.
• Results will be placed on ICMR-NIHR and ICMR websites.
• Recruited project staff will be governed by ICMR project staff recruitment guidelines.
• Original certificates must be brought for verification; failure to do so will lead to disqualification.
• Age, qualification, and experience will be reckoned as on the date of the Walk-in-interview / written test.
• No TA/DA will be given for attending the interview/test.
• Mere fulfillment of qualification/experience does not guarantee selection.
• Electronic gadgets are not allowed inside the examination hall/interview venue.
