Vacancies are distributed across three pay levels based on sports achievement standards. Candidates meeting higher eligibility norms (Level 5/4 or 3/2) may also apply for Level-1 posts.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years and a maximum of 25 years as on 01/01/2027. Only candidates born between 01/01/2002 and 01/01/2009 (both dates inclusive) are eligible. No age relaxation is applicable for any community.

Educational Qualification

Sports Achievement / Eligibility Norms

Candidates must have achieved specific sports distinctions in recognized championships held on or after 01/04/2024. These norms vary by pay level:

• For Level 5/4: Represented the country in Olympic Games (Senior Category) or achieved at least 3rd position in World Cup/Championships, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games (Senior), Youth Olympics, or Champions Trophy (Hockey).
• For Level 3/2: Represented in major international/national events or achieved at least 3rd position in Commonwealth Championships, Asian Championships/Asia Cup, South Asian Federation Games (Senior), USIC (World Railways) Championships (Senior), World University Games, Senior/Youth/Junior National Championships, National Games, All India Inter University Championship, or 1st position in Federation Cup Championships (Senior Category).
• For Level-1: Represented the country in Commonwealth Championships, Asian Championships/Asia Cup, South Asian Federation (SAF) Games, USIC (World Railways) Championships, World University Games, or achieved at least 3rd position in Federation Cup Championships (Senior Category), or represented a State/equivalent unit with at least 8th position in Senior National Championships (except Marathon and Cross Country), or at least 3rd position in Senior/Youth/Junior National Championships.

All championships must be conducted under recognized International/National/State Sports Federations and recognized by the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB).

Selection Procedure

The selection process involves Document Verification (DV) and a Trial. Only candidates securing 25 or more out of 40 marks in game skill, physical fitness, and coach's observation during the trial will be considered further.

• Scanned copy of minimum academic qualification mark sheet/certificate.
• Certificate proving recognized sports achievement held on or after 01/04/2024.
• Proof of date of birth (SSC certificate, mark sheet, or school leaving certificate).
• Scanned caste certificate for SC/ST candidates (if fee exemption claimed).
• Scanned photograph (3.5 cm x 3.5 cm, colour, 20-70 KB, JPG/JPEG).
• Scanned signature (3.5 cm x 2.5 cm, 20-30 KB, JPG/JPEG, in running handwriting).
