Madhya Pradesh Power Generation Company Limited (MPPGCL) through its Sanjay Gandhi Thermal Power Station (SGTPS), Birsinghpur, has released an official notification for the recruitment of ITI Apprentices for the year 2026-27. This is a golden opportunity for eligible candidates who are domicile of Madhya Pradesh to undergo one-year apprenticeship training in various trades.
Important Note: As per Section 22(1) of the Apprentices Act, 1961, this advertisement is for apprenticeship training only and does not guarantee employment after completion of the training period. MPPGCL, Birsinghpur is under no obligation to offer a job to any apprentice.

These vacancies are open only to candidates who are domicile/original residents (mool nivasi) of Madhya Pradesh; preference will be given to residents of Umaria, Shahdol, Anuppur, Katni and Jabalpur districts.
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidate must have passed ITI (NCVT/SCVT) in the relevant trade from a Government/private recognised Industrial Training Institute.
- Candidate must not have been previously registered for apprenticeship in any establishment, nor worked in any institution for 1 year or more.
- Candidate must be a domicile/original resident of Madhya Pradesh.
- Candidate may apply for only one trade; applying for more than one trade may lead to rejection of the application.
- Registration on the Government of India Apprenticeship Portal (apprenticeshipindia.gov.in) is mandatory before applying.
Age Limit (as on 01 January 2026)
- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Maximum Age (General): 25 years
- SC / ST / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 30 years (+5 years relaxation)
- Divyang (PwD): 35 years (+10 years relaxation)
Stipend
Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of ₹9,600/- as per the rates prescribed by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India. No other allowance or benefit is admissible. Trainees are entitled to 13 days casual leave, 10 days medical leave, and weekly off during the apprenticeship.
Selection Process
There is no written exam or interview for this apprenticeship. Selection is purely merit-based:
- Applications received are first screened to confirm eligibility.
- Eligible candidates are then selected on a merit list based on the percentage of total marks (CGPA, averaged across semesters) obtained in their ITI trade.
- In case of a tie in marks, the older candidate is given priority.
- Final selection is subject to a medical fitness certificate issued by the District Medical Officer.
How to Apply
Both online and offline applications are mandatory. A candidate is considered eligible only if they have applied through both modes.
Step 1: Register on the Apprenticeship Portal
- Visit https://apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and click "Register/Candidate", then select "Register As Candidate".
- Fill in all required personal, contact, and qualification details, and upload necessary documents.
- Review and confirm your registration.
Step 2: Apply to SGTPS Birsinghpur on the Portal
- Log in to the portal.
- Go to "Establishment Search" and select "SANJAY GANDHI THERMAL POWER STATION BIRSINGHPUR".
- Apply for the eligible trade(s) on or before 21 September 2026, 11:59 PM.
Step 3: Submit the Offline Application

Important Conditions
Selected apprentices must arrange their own accommodation.
Selected trainees must arrange their own safety equipment (helmet, gloves, safety shoes, goggles, etc.).
Selected apprentices must have accident insurance of at least ₹1,00,000/-.
Selected candidates must submit portal registration proof, insurance policy, medical certificate, Aadhaar card photocopy, and a bond on ₹500 stamp paper to the office.
Reservation for Divyang (PwD) candidates is applicable horizontally in all categories only within the Computer Operator & Programming Assistant (COPA) trade.
MPPGCL, Birsinghpur reserves the right to cancel, limit, or extend the selection process at any time without prior notice.
After completing the apprenticeship, trainees must pass the examination conducted by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India, to receive a National Apprenticeship Certificate.
