The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the official notification No. 10/2025-NDA-II on 28 May 2025

for the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) Examination (II), 2025.

A total of 406 vacancies have been announced under this notification. The examination is being conducted for admission to

the 156th Course of the NDA (Army, Navy, and Air Force Wings) and the 118th Course of the NA under the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme, both commencing from 1 July 2026.

UPSC NDA & NA II 2025 Application Fee

  • Fee is ₹100/- for all except SC/ST candidates, female candidates, and wards of JCOs/NCOs/ORs (who meet certain conditions).
  • Fee must be paid via online modes only (Credit/Debit card, UPI, or Internet banking).
  • No refund of fee under any condition.
  • Applications without proper fee payment will be rejected.
  • Wards of Defence Personnel studying in Military Schools or Sainik Schools are exempted from fee, but must provide a certificate from their school principal.

UPSC NDA & NA II 2025 Age Limit

Only unmarried male and female candidates born between 2nd January 2007 and 1st January 2010 are eligible. Candidates must not marry before completion of training. If a candidate marries during the training period, he/she will be discharged and must refund the cost of training.

  • Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible.
  • Date of birth must be between 1st January 2007 and 1st January 2010.
  • The date of birth must match the one in the Matriculation or equivalent certificate.
  • Once submitted, the DOB cannot be changed.
  • Marriage is not allowed during training. If married after application or during training, the selection will be canceled and the candidate must refund all training expenses.

UPSC NDA & NA II 2025 Educational Qualification

  • For Army Wing: 12th pass from a recognized board (any stream).
  • For Air Force and Navy Wings: 12th pass with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • Students appearing in 12th class can also apply.
  • Must submit 12th pass certificate by 10th June 2026.
  • 11th class students are not eligible.
  • Candidates who failed CPSS/PABT can apply for Air Force Ground Duty only.

UPSC NDA & NA II 2025 Physical Standards

  • Candidates must be physically fit as per NDA & NA Examination (II), 2025 guidelines.
  • Candidates removed or resigned on disciplinary grounds from Armed Forces training academies are not eligible.

UPSC NDA & NA II 2025 Selection Process

The selection process includes the following stages:

  1. Written Examination conducted by UPSC
  2. SSB Interview (Intelligence and Personality Test) conducted by Services Selection Board
  3. Document Verification and Medical Examination for final merit listing

Note: There is a negative marking of 1/3rd marks for every incorrect answer.

Stipend During Training (For NDA/NA Selected Cadets)

  • ₹56,100/- per month during training at academies like IMA.
  • After commissioning, officers start from Level 10 Pay Matrix.
  • Training period is not counted as service, but allowances for that period are paid.

Allowances (Based on Role & Location)

  • Military Service Pay (MSP): ₹15,500/- per month (Lt to Brigadier)
  • Field Area Allowance: ₹4,250 to ₹53,125/- (based on location)
  • Special Allowances (Flying, MARCOS, Submarine, Para, etc.): ₹6,625 to ₹31,250/-
  • Dearness Allowance (DA): As per govt. rules
  • Dress Allowance: ₹25,000 per year (increases with DA)
  • Transport Allowance: ₹7,200 + DA (for metro cities) - ₹3,600 + DA (for other locations)
  • Children Education Allowance: ₹2,812.50/- per month (for up to 2 kids)
  • Hostel Subsidy: ₹8,438/- per month (for up to 2 kids)

Additional Benefits

In case of medical invalidation or death during training due to service-related reasons, cadets or their family (NoK) are eligible for monetary compensation.

How to apply

  1. Visit the Official Website

    Go to the UPSC official online portal: 👉 https://upsconline.nic.in

  2. Complete One Time Registration (OTR)

    • If you haven't registered earlier, you need to complete the One Time Registration (OTR) first.
    • Enter your name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID, and other required details.
    • Verify your registration using the OTP sent to your mobile/email.
  3. Fill the Application Form

    1. After login, click on "NDA & NA II Examination 2025".

    2. The application consists of two parts:

    • Part I – Basic information, photo ID details
    • Part II – Choose exam center, upload documents, pay the application fee
  4. Upload Required Documents

    • Upload recent passport-size photo, signature, and photo ID proof (like Aadhaar card).
    • Ensure documents are uploaded in the correct format and size as prescribed.
  5. Pay the Application Fee

    • General/OBC Candidates: ₹100/-
    • SC/ST/Female Candidates: Fee Exempted
    • Fee can be paid via Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.
  6. Select Exam Centre

    Choose your preferred exam center from the list. Early applicants get preference for their desired center.

  7. Final Submission and Printout

    • Review all entered details carefully before clicking Final Submit.
    • After submission, take a printout of the application form for future reference.
