Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) & Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, a premier institution under the Government of India, has announced a significant recruitment drive for Senior Resident posts. This recruitment, published vide File No. ACDM-13016/1/2026-ACAD-VMMC dated 03/06/2026, aims to fill 179 vacant Senior Resident positions on an Adhoc basis across 38 diverse specialties/departments. These opportunities are available at VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital and its satellite centre, Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC), Najafgarh.

Candidates possessing an MBBS degree along with a PG Degree/Diploma/DNB in the relevant specialty recognized by NMC and registered with the Delhi Medical Council (or applied for registration) are eligible to appear for the Walk-in-Interview. The appointment will initially be for a period of 89 days, extendable based on satisfactory performance, or until the post is filled on a regular basis, whichever is earlier.

Vacancy Details (Total: 179 Posts)

A total of 179 vacancies are distributed across 38 specialties. This includes 24 posts horizontally reserved for PwBD (Divyangjan). All selected Senior Residents may be posted in RHTC, Najafgarh on a brief rotational basis.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on the date of walk-in-interview. Permanent Registration Certificate from Delhi Medical Council (DMC) for both MBBS and PG degrees (or applied for registration) is mandatory.

• Educational Qualification: MBBS + PG Degree/Diploma/DNB in the relevant specialty recognized by NMC/DCI.
• Specific Qualifications by Department: (Examples provided in source text, full details in official notification)
• Anaesthesia / Cardiac Anaesthesia: MBBS + PG Degree/Diploma/DNB in Anaesthesiology.
• Medicine / Cardiology / Endocrinology / Neurology / Medical Oncology: MBBS + PG Degree/Diploma/DNB in Medicine or Paediatrics.
• Surgery / CTVS / Renal Transplant / Urology / Neuro Surgery: MBBS + PG Degree/Diploma/DNB in Surgery.

Age Limit (as on date of walk-in-interview)

• General (UR) / EWS: 45 years
• OBC: 48 years
• SC / ST: 50 years
• PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disability): Upper age limit relaxable as per Govt. of India rules.

Application Fee

There is no application fee for any category. However, selected candidates are required to submit a refundable security deposit of Rs. 65,000/- at the time of joining, along with original UG & PG degrees.

Selection Process

The selection will be based entirely on a Walk-in-Interview (total 100 marks). No written examination will be conducted. Candidates must register on the date of walk-in-interview at the specified venue between 09:00 AM and 10:30 AM with original certificates and one set of self-attested photocopies.

Interview Component Marks Distribution:

• Head of the Department (HOD): 20 Marks
• Internal Expert: 20 Marks
• External Expert: 20 Marks
• Publications (05 marks each): Maximum 15 Marks
• Presentation of paper in CME/Conference: Maximum 25 Marks

The maximum tenure as Senior Resident is three years, including any prior SR service in any Government of India/State Government hospital/institution.
