Candidates who want to appear as private candidates should complete their application by October 23, 2026 to avoid the late fee.

Who Can Apply for CBSE Private Candidate 2027?
It is important to note that not every student is eligible to apply as a private candidate. CBSE has specified particular categories of candidates who can submit the form.
Class 10th Eligibility
The following candidates can apply under the applicable categories:
- Candidates declared Essential Repeat in the 2026 Class 10 examination.
- Candidates declared Fail/Essential Repeat in the years 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026, subject to CBSE rules.
- Candidates who were allotted a roll number for the 2026 examination but could not appear due to medical reasons, subject to the conditions prescribed by CBSE.
- Candidates who received Compartment in the 2026 examination can apply according to the applicable rules.
- Candidates who passed the 2026 examination and want to apply for Improvement of Performance, subject to CBSE rules.
- Candidates with a Compartment can apply for the relevant subject(s) in which they received the Compartment.
Class 10th Full Subjects
CBSE has specified provisions for candidates appearing for 5/6/7 subjects, depending on their eligibility category and previous examination status.

Late Fee for CBSE Private Candidate 2027
Candidates applying between October 24 and October 30, 2026, will have to pay the prescribed regular examination fee along with an additional ₹2,000 late fee.
Therefore, candidates are advised to submit their applications before October 23, 2026 whenever possible.
How to Apply – CBSE Private Candidate Form 2027
- Visit the official CBSE website and open the Private Candidate Portal.
- Select the application link for Class 10th or Class 12th.
- Choose your Eligibility Category and enter your personal and previous exam details.
- Select the required Subjects and Examination City.
- Upload the required Photograph and other details/documents.
- Pay the prescribed Application Fee online.
- Carefully check all details and submit the application form.
- Download the Final Application Form and Fee Receipt for future reference.
Photograph Requirements
Candidates should carefully follow CBSE's photograph-related instructions while submitting the application.
The photograph should generally be:
- Recent and clear.
- In colour.
- Taken facing the camera directly.
- Clearly showing the candidate's face.
- With a clean and suitable background.
- With the eyes open and facing the camera.
- Uploaded in the prescribed JPG format.
- Within the size limit specified by CBSE. The official instructions mention a maximum photograph size of 40 KB.

Important Rules for CBSE Private Candidate 2027
1. Submit Only One Application Form
CBSE has instructed candidates to submit only one application form. Therefore, candidates should carefully select their eligibility category and subjects before submitting the form.
2. Valid Email ID Required
Candidates should have a valid and working email ID, as email/OTP verification may be required during the application process.
3. New Roll Number
Private candidates appearing in the 2027 examination will be allotted a new roll number. Candidates cannot appear using the roll number of an earlier examination.
4. Choose Examination City Carefully
Candidates must select their examination city carefully while filling out the application form. CBSE will allot the examination centre based on the selected city and availability.
Once the examination centre has been allotted, requests for changing the centre may not be accepted.
5. No Offline Application
The application form and examination fee must be submitted online. CBSE does not accept payment through DD, cheque, money order, postal order, etc., for this application.
6. No Need to Send Hard Copy to CBSE
Candidates do not need to send a hard copy of the submitted application form to the CBSE office unless specifically instructed by the Board.
