About Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL)
Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) is a leading Transmission Utility in India, incorporated in March 2004 under the Companies Act, 1956. Wholly owned by the Government of Odisha, OPTCL is responsible for the transmission and wheeling of electricity across the state of Odisha. The company became fully operational on June 9, 2005, following the Odisha Electricity Reform (Transfer of Transmission and Related Activities) Scheme, 2005.
Vision and Future Endeavors
OPTCL is committed to providing reliable power to fuel Odisha's industrial growth. To meet a projected demand of 21000 MW within the next five years, OPTCL is undertaking significant reengineering initiatives. These include:
- Establishing a 765KV ring.
- Expanding the 400 KV network.
- Creating several 220 KV rings in urban centers.
