Cochin Shipyard Ship Draftsman Trainee Recruitment 2026: Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), a premier Miniratna Schedule ‘A’ Company of the Government of India, has released a vacancy notification for the recruitment of Ship Draftsman Trainees. A total of 60 vacancies are available for Mechanical and Electrical disciplines.

Cochin Shipyard Ship Draftsman Trainee Vacancy 2026

According to the official notification, CSL has announced 60 seats for Ship Draftsman Trainees. The vacancies are divided between Mechanical and Electrical disciplines.

CSL reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of seats or cancel the recruitment process according to organizational requirements.

Application Fee

The application fee is ₹300, excluding applicable bank charges.

Educational Qualification

Ship Draftsman Trainee – Mechanical

Candidates must have:

• Passed SSLC.
• A 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a State Board of Technical Education.
• At least 60% marks in the Diploma.
• Flair for Draftsmanship and proficiency in CAD.

Ship Draftsman Trainee – Electrical

Candidates must have:

• Passed SSLC.
• A 3-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a State Board of Technical Education.
• At least 60% marks in the Diploma.
• Flair for Draftsmanship and proficiency in CAD.

Important: Candidates possessing higher qualifications such as B.Tech., M.Sc., etc. instead of the prescribed qualification will not be considered eligible for these posts.

Age Limit

The maximum age limit is 25 years as on 4 September 2026. Candidates should have been born on or after 5 September 2001.

Age relaxation is applicable as follows:

• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
• SC/ST: 5 years

The relaxation will apply to candidates against the respective reserved seats.

Training Period and Stipend

The training period will be two years. There will be a performance evaluation at the end of the first year, and only successful candidates will be provided training in the second year.

Trainees will also be eligible for extra hours of work beyond normal working hours.

Depending on organizational requirements, availability of vacancies and individual performance, successful trainees may also be considered for contractual posts for up to 5 years, at the discretion of CSL.

Selection Process

The selection will be conducted through a Practical Test of 100 marks. Candidates will be required to prepare a drawing using CAD software, and the Practical Test will be conducted at CSL, Kochi.

Minimum Passing Marks

The 45% requirement for OBC and 40% requirement for SC/ST apply to the respective reserved vacancies.

Depending on the number of applications received, CSL may shortlist candidates based on the eligibility documents uploaded with the online application. Only shortlisted candidates who successfully complete certificate verification will be permitted to appear for the Practical Test.
