KEA Land Surveyor Recruitment 2026: 750 Vacancies Announced

The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has released two separate notifications on July 11, 2026, for direct recruitment to the post of Surveyor (Bhoomapaka), Group-C, under the Department of Land Records and Survey Settlement, Government of Karnataka.

A total of 750 vacancies are available, comprising 560 posts under the Regular/State cadre and 190 posts under the Kalyana-Karnataka local cadre (Article 371(J)). This is a golden opportunity for eligible candidates to join the state government services.

The 750 Surveyor vacancies are distributed across two cadres with specific reservations:

Regular Cadre (RPC) - 560 Posts

Horizontal reservation within these posts includes: Women - 186, Rural candidates - 140, Ex-servicemen - 56, Kannada medium students - 26, Project-displaced persons - 25, Persons with Disabilities (PWD) - 30, Transgender candidates - 7.

Kalyana-Karnataka Local Cadre (KK) - 190 Posts

Horizontal reservation within these posts includes: Women - 61, Rural candidates - 49, Ex-servicemen - 17, Kannada medium students - 7, PWD candidates - 11, Transgender candidates - 2.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Applicants must possess any one of the following qualifications from a recognized university or AICTE-approved institution:

• A degree in Civil Engineering or Technology, or any Engineering/Technology degree, or an AMIE qualification in any Engineering/Technology stream; OR
• A degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Instrumentation, Electronics & Communication, or Agriculture (B.Sc.); OR
• A Diploma in any branch of Engineering/Technology from an AICTE-approved institution.

Note: Candidates who have completed the above qualification are eligible; students yet to complete the qualifying course are not eligible.

Age Limit (as on Last Date of Application)

Minimum age required is 18 years. Maximum age limits, including a one-time 5-year relaxation, are:

• General/Unreserved candidates: 40 years
• Category 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B: 43 years
• SC, ST and Category-1: 45 years

Additional age relaxation is available for government employees, ex-servicemen, PWD, and widows as per government norms.

Salary / Pay Scale

Selected candidates will receive a competitive salary as per the 2024 Revised State Pay Scale of ₹37,500 - ₹76,100 per month, applicable to the Surveyor post under Group-C. In-hand salary will include applicable allowances as per state government norms.

Selection Process

The selection process for the Surveyor post involves:

1. Competitive Written Examination: An offline OMR-based test with two papers: Paper-I (General Knowledge) and Paper-II (Specific Paper).
2. Kannada Language Test: A qualifying test (minimum 50 marks out of 150) for candidates who have not studied Kannada up to SSLC level. Marks are not counted for final merit.
3. Document Verification: Based on merit and category-wise reservation.
4. Probation and Departmental Training: Selected candidates undergo a 2-year probation period and must pass a 6-month departmental "Kadaya Tharabeti" (Survey Training) examination.

Exam Pattern

• Minimum qualifying marks: 35% for general category.
• Negative marking: 0.25 marks deducted for every wrong answer.

Syllabus (Paper-II - Specific Paper)

The broad syllabus for Paper-II includes:

• Mathematics (40%): Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry.
• Physics (10%): Magnetism, electricity, dynamics, heat, light, sound, gravitation.
• Geography (10%): The Earth, lithosphere, maps, physical features of India.
• Modern Methods of Surveying (20%): Photogrammetry, aerial survey, satellite imagery, drone (UAV) imagery, remote sensing, GPS, GIS, DGPS, GNSS, RTK surveying, Karnataka State CORS Network.
• Computer Applications (20%): MS Office, AutoCAD, GIS software, basics of software solutions and land records IT.
