Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA)

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) was established in 1994 as the Common Entrance Test Cell by the Government of Karnataka. It was converted into an autonomous body registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1960, as the "Karnataka Examinations Authority" as per Government Order No. ED.212 TEC 2006 dated 20-12-2006.

Role and Functions

KEA is responsible for conducting entrance tests and determining eligibility and merit for admission to the first year or first semester of full-time professional courses for the Government's share of seats in various institutions. These courses include:

  • Medical and Dental
  • Indian Systems of Medicine and Homeopathy (AYUSH)
  • Engineering and Architecture
  • Farm Science courses (e.g., B.Sc. Agriculture, B.Sc. Horticulture, B.V.Sc.)
  • Pharmacy (B.Pharma, Pharma-D)
  • Physiotherapy (BPT)
  • Yoga and Naturopathy

Admission Process

Admission to Government Seats is made in accordance with the Karnataka Selection of Candidates for Admission to Government Seats in Professional Educational Institutions Rules, 2006, as amended from time to time. KEA also allots Medical/Dental/AYUSH courses seats based on NEET scores, as per the seat matrix provided by the Government of Karnataka.
