The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), Prayagraj, has announced the Assistant Professor Selection Exam 2026 under Advertisement Number 04/2026. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:

For most subjects, candidates must possess either:

1. Route A: A Master's degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in the relevant/allied subject from an Indian university (or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university), AND a qualifying NET conducted by UGC/CSIR, or an equivalent state-level test (SLET/SET) accredited by UGC. Exemptions apply for PhD holders as per UGC Regulations, 2009 or 2016, provided specific conditions are met.
2. Route B: A PhD in the relevant subject obtained from a foreign university/institution ranked in the world's top 500 as per QS World University Rankings, Times Higher Education (THE), or Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai) rankings.

Relaxations in qualifying marks (5% from 55% to 50%) are applicable for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/disabled category candidates and PhD-degree holders who obtained their degree before 19 September 1991.

Candidates for Art/Drawing & Painting, Music Vocal, Music Instrumental (Sitar), and Music Instrumental (Tabla) may also be eligible if they are traditional/professional artists with a Bachelor's degree and outstanding professional achievement, meeting specific criteria.
